What to Expect: Botox Injection for Overactive Bladder (OAB)
Dr. Gabal and her team of experts at Prestige Medical Group in Santa Ana offer botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for the treatment of overactive bladder. Local anesthesia is placed into the bladder through a small catheter and allowed to remain for 15-20 minutes to take effect. A cystoscope is placed into the bladder in order to visualize the bladder wall. Several injections of botulinum toxin (Botox) are made throughout the bladder wall intended to weaken and/or paralyze the bladder muscle. The procedure takes approximately 15-20 minutes but expect to be at the appointment for one hour.
